Benefits of commUniversity 2019
Yesterday was Stony Brook University commUniversity Day 2019, were the community is invited to campus and Stony Brook departments are outside highlighting what the offer to the community. I Lead the Discovery zone which is a hands on area where a variety of groups provide discovery into our work at Stony Brook on science, journalism, interactive games and discovery.
It’s also about interacting with people. Yesterday I meet Ned a graduate from the 1970’s from Stony Brook and his is now attending, he was so delighted to be able to interact with so many different people on family weekend. It made him feel apart of the community and brought back positive memories of his time here. I enjoyed every minute talking to him and knew this is exactly what this day is all about, it was wonderful.
Even thought today I am so exhausted. It was a great day, Thank you to the iCREATE team, all in the Discovery zone and the SBU Community Relations organizers. It was another great event.
We Partnered with Journalism to offer an experience where you can be a weatherman for the day, It worked Great!! Thanks Phil.
Interim President Michael Bernstein stopped by to congratulate us for a successful event.
The iCREATE summer staff made a new interactive very difficult but fun Angry Birds type game, with recycled pallet wood, bean bags designed and made in iCREATE, as well as the concepts of the game. Thanks to all who made this a reality.
